We’re all aware of Drake’s undeniable ties to his hometown of Toronto, but many may not be aware of his love for Houston. Although the Canadian rapper often sings praises for the northern city, Houston played a huge role in Drake’s rise to fame. In addition to a short upbringing in Memphis, Tennessee where his father is from, Houston is where Drake met his mentor and confidant, Lil Wayne. Drake’s loyalty to Southern America culminated in OVO‘s Houston Appreciation Weekend (HAW), which saw its second incarnation this year. Among the itinerary were a celebrity softball game, taking place last Friday at the University of Houston Cougar Field prior to the Tings on Tings party later that night. Among the star-studded roster of attendees was Greg Noire, a Houston-based photographer who snapped up some exclusive shots for HYPETRAK.
