It’s a risky game trying to re-create the past, but it’s inevitable. People want to know about history; they want to know about their heroes, their icons and their inspiration.
The long-anticipated Dr. Dre and Ice Cube-produced biopic Straight Outta Compton is on its way, and today a further trailer has been released. Soundtracked by delicious beats and echoing sirens, the Universal Pictures movie is set to garner a lot of attention.
Featuring O’Shea Jackson Junior, the son of Ice, playing his father, it’s a risky yet admirable cast, and one which judging by the trailer, is near to perfect. Jason Mitchell will play Eazy-E, and Corey Hawkins appears as Dr. Dre.
Set in the mid-80’s in southern Los Angeles, the movie will focus on the beginnings of the rap group, touching on brushes with the law, in-depth lyricism and goose-bump inducing studio time. Set for release in August 2015, we’ve got a while to wait yet; but from what we can see, this movie is set for positive criticism.
