Montreal rapper Wasiu has been killing it as of late and really making his city proud. From the Kaytranada-produced “Physical” to “BLKKKOUT,” Wasiu has exhibited a desire to creatively tackle a variety of topics, and he raps about them in an way that proves he’s a more-than-formidable emcee. Now, he’s delivering up another impressive salvo of bars and knowledge entitled “Many Dreams.” Speaking to i-D/VICE about today’s release, Wasiu breaks down the theme of “Many Dreams” as such:
“We all have dreams and aspirations…Some of them are altruistic in nature and others selfish and materialistic. This record focuses on the latter. With the overall theme of the album being a relatively dark and heavy depiction of our society, I wanted to include some lighter and fun moments. That being said, this song is simply about the material dreams of a broke rapper aspiring for more.”
Good explanation, Wasiu. You can check out “Many Dreams” above, and let’s hope a multi-track, fully-formed offering from Wasiu hits the internet soon.
