Following the publication of an analyst note by JMP Securities a few days ago, the equity research firm predicted that Tinder would be worth $1.6 billion USD as a standalone business. The analysis was carried out on behalf of InterActiveCorp, the internet and media company that owns Tinder, only to confirm that the mobile dating application makes up for an impressive 20% market value of IAC’s outstanding shares. Since Tinder Plus was introduced in February, JMP predicts that 1.5 million users will pay for the service by 2016 and the application could bring roughly $70 million USD in advertising revenue by next year too. Let us know if you feel Tinder would operate better as an independent organization or whether serving under IAC is a more sensible strategy.
