will.i.am Partners with Gucci to Introduce a Smartband

will.i.am continues his foray into tech with another smartband device, despite the fact that his current Puls smartwatch device not gaining much traction. This time around, he’s pairing up with Gucci for a standalone smartband that doesn’t need a phone to operate. In a statement, will.i.am states they will be developing a device “that is both fashionable and technologically advanced,” that will be something “unique in the marketplace.” The smartband purportedly makes and receives calls, sends messages, stores music, runs an email app, and acts as a fitness tracker. Coincidentally (or not?) these are the same specs that will.i.am’s Puls smartwatch offers, except this time around with Gucci branding. Pricing, technical details and release dates have yet to be confirmed.
