San Francisco & UK-based singer Tara Priya will be dropping her Friends Like These EP on Liquid Records on June 1, 2015. Made up of six songs that smoothly combine jazz, soul and ’90s hip hop, Friends Like These is a soundtrack for laid back nights, cruising underneath a starry sky.
The title track is a testament to that, with its head-bobbing production and infectious piano melody, the lyrics dealing with the pretense of friendship in service of ulterior motives. From one listen of the title track, as well as forthcoming single “Not At All,” it’s obvious that Priya is just as influenced by James Blake and RZA, than she is Billie Holiday and Nancy Sinatra.
