For those of you that fell asleep early last night, and woke up puzzled to see various artists such as Kanye West, Beyonce and Rihanna’s Twitter avatars being a bright blue background, it’s not related to Blue Ivy Carter at all but JAY Z‘s new streaming service, TIDAL.
As we reported back in January, JAY Z put in a bid of 56 million dollars to acquire the European music streaming service Aspiro, and although he was initially blocked because of the company’s 10 percent minority shareholders, it looks like he’s finally getting things moving.
Aside from the support he’s received from other artists on Twitter, Aspiro sent out press releases announcing a live streamed press conference today at 5pm EST where “JAY Z will announce a commitment to a new direction for the music industry from both a creative and business aspect.”
Be on the lookout for the live stream later on today.
