The Converse “Made By You” campaign was brought to life to celebrate fans of the brand who have been creatively expressing themselves in their Chuck Taylor All Stars. While over 1 billion pairs of Chucks have been sold worldwide, no two pairs are ever worn the same; there’s something innately storied, as it were, about the silhouette.
“Made By you originated from a simple human truth – we all want to be our true, authentic self in this world,” said Vice President of Global Marketing Ian Stewart. “Fans of Chuck Taylor are the ones who have made Chuck Taylor an iconic badge of creative self-expression. It’s time we celebrated them.” With each model serving as a self-portrait of its owner, the spring collection includes homages to renowned creatives such as Andy Warhol, Futura, Ron English, Glenn O’Brien and Kate Lanphear among others. Converse hopes to encourage people around the world to take part in the “Made By You” initiative by hosting launch exhibitions in New York City, London, Beijing and Mexico City.
Open to the public from March 2 through March 7 in New York City, the “Converse: A 360º Experience” will allow viewers to walk in the sneakers of select people featured in the campaign using Google Cardboard. Each experience will be hosted in individual 9′ light boxes, meaning every one of Ron English’s brushstrokes, Thomas Midlane’s kick flips or King Tuff’s pedal pushes will be viscerally felt by visitors. If in the New York City area, head over to Flatiron Plaza to experience this special event, and stay tuned for more from the “Made by you” campaign. In the meantime, get your own blank canvas of self-expression and creativity by heading over to Converse.com.
