On February 20, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain would have turned 48. In honor of the day and the legacy left by Cobain and Nirvana, Pigeons and Planes will be presenting a project featuring nothing but covers of Nirvana songs. Today, Pigeons and Planes have unveiled the first single in support of the project. For their first offering off Teenage Angst Had Paid Off Well, P&P have gone with a JMSN cover of the 1993 In Utero hit “Rape Me.” Despite some changes in the melodies and the instrumental, JMSN’s rendition is pretty faithful to the original and does the song justice, while serving as a reminder of how timeless and classic Nirvana’s music is.
