In the first official trailer for the live-action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ beloved book series, we get a glimpse at the dark jungle environment where the majority of the film will take place. The new movie will feature an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård (as Tarzan), Margot Robbie (as Jane Porter), Christoph Waltz (as Captain Rom) and Samuel L. Jackson (as George Washington Williams). In the clip that runs just over two minutes, we get a taste of Tarzan’s backstory and beginnings. However, the central storyline follows Tarzan’s return to the jungle after acclimatizing to life in London. Tasked with investigating dubious activities at a mining encampment, the “King of the Apes” finds his way back home. Showcasing visually stunning cinematography and top-notch visual effects, the film promises to be an exhilarating thrill ride. The Legend of Tarzan is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2016. You can watch the full trailer above.
