Modscape's Brick Wall Conceals a Modular Poolside Home in Australia
An airy pavilion hides in a private haven from the busy road below.
How do you create an open-air dwelling while also shielding it from the busy road nearby? If you’re Modscape, you hide the pavilion behind the envelopment of a rendered brick wall. Such is the design firm’s latest project in Australia. Located in New South Wales, the private home appears to be a modest-yet-lengthy linear form. Behind the protective brick exterior, however, is a beautiful poolside abode that connects to the idyllic landscape while soaking up the northern sun.
Visitors enter the home via a large pivoting door, moving into the brick wall and through a timber-battened walkway before coming upon a large main living area, courtyard and more. Featuring 11 modules in all, the 465-square-meter home features a large open plan with a kitchen/living/dining area at its heart as a timber joinery core conceals the likes of a butler’s pantry, laundry, powder room and staircase to the upstairs music room.
