Louis Vuitton Introduces a Luxe Watercolor Box
Recalling the trunk traditions of the famed French atelier.
Although Louis Vuitton has established itself as one of the most revered luxury fashion houses in the world, the French label actually has its beginnings in premium luggage. Of especial note is LV’s popularization of the flat-bottomed trunk that became a travel essential for many seasoned voyagers of the time. Carrying on with this tradition, the rectangular travel case constructed with the brand’s iconic Damier Canvas pattern has become a hallmark item for the famed atelier. Echoing the traditions of the classic trunk, Louis Vuitton has introduced an opulent boite à aquarelle (or watercolor box) designed for the artist on-the-go.
As a perfect union of form and function, the luxe offering elevates the archetypal trunk into a concept that provides ease of use while still maintaining an elegant design. Utilizing a wooden frame, the exterior is covered with premium leather and is protected by brass corners and multiple clasps and locks. In addition, a handle ensures that the box is easily carried. As Patrick-Louis Vuitton comments, “We are packers by profession. To create a fine piece of luggage, you need to be rational. The extravagance is the objects you transport.” You can further explore the Louis Vuitton Watercolor Box at the brand’s website here, and can learn more about the trunk in the video above.
