Herzog & de Meuron Take the Task of Building 60,000-Seat Stadium for Chelsea
Inspired by its urban context to not be an eye-sore.

Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, English football club Chelsea’s new home is ready to hosts 60,000 “Blue is the Colour”-singing fans comfortably with other attractions to heighten the entire experience. The upcoming stadium will include a shop along with a museum within its walls, along with a separate restaurant and café area for diners. Within Herzog & de Meuron’s design, expect a three-tier bowl allowing fans to view their game from numerous levels and angles. The team’s newest entertainment home aims to be the next landmark in West London as designers hope for it to be automatically associated with the football club and its history, yet have the architecture fit into the urban context aesthetically.
Chelsea is expected to move into its new home before the 2020-2021 premier league season.
