Back in the 19th century, times were touch in Sweden and, ultimately, over one million people fled the Scandinavian country in favor of the opportunities offered in America — something perfectly captured by Vilhelm Moberg’s 1949 novel The Emigrants and director Jan Troell’s subsequent Academy Award-nominated 1971 film adaptation. As a nod to the iconic story and film, Sweden’s own Sneakersnstuff is set to drop a special “American Dream” release alongside Brooks.
Coming in the form of the Brooks Regent, the “American Dream” release comes in a striped textile as a nod to the clothing of the 1850s while text embroidery pays homage to the characters and wooden ship — the Charlotta — depicted in the story. Finally, both SNS and Brooks branding decorate the tongues as a ship graphic comes embossed on the black nubuck heel of each shoe.
The Sneakersnstuff x Brooks Regent “American Dream” will be available in limited numbers at Sneakersnstuff come this Saturday, November 21.
