Müll Recycles Plastic for Thoughtful Pieces of Furniture
A genius way to use your old plastic bags.

As the world turns its focus to the COP21 Climate Conference in Paris, many are thinking of ways to be more sustainable and less harmful to our Earth and the environment. One such project is Müll, the brainchild of Carter Zufelt who embarked on a journey to recycling plastic for his senior thesis in industrial design. With over 1 trillion plastic bags consumed each year worldwide, and only 5 percent of that recycled within the USA, plastic is surely one of the major causes for environmental and sustainability concerns.
Zufelt has figured out a way to recycle used plastics and form them into pieces of minimalist furniture. Starting with small cubes to trays and bowls, the plastic has formed an incredibly detailed and beautiful piece that mimics marble. Extremely dense and durable, these products are surely a genius use of old plastic bags that we all accumulate over time.
Head over to Zufelt’s Kickstarter page here and learn more about the project. The industrial designer will also be taking in plastic bags for the project — for every 100 bags he will send you a 1.5” cube.
