Nestled in a private garden atop a small hill in Tehran, Iran sits the Sohanak swimming pool and spa. Designed by architect Kourosh Rafiey, the pool sits in pristine serenity, surrounded by a subtle border of the same cream stone as the building, and stunning views of garden and cityscape. The tiles of the basin creates a deep, dark blue color, making the pool look more natural. A nearby small building also includes a jacuzzi, a sauna and a terrace. Rafiey wanted to enhance the existing landscape and to blend nature and architecture together. The pool connects the building and the garden area, and with reflections of built and natural environment on the water, the scenery seems like a continuous surface without separation. The Sohanak swimming pool is a true example of how man-made construction can visually interact with nature. Enjoy the small selection of photos here and check out the full set over at designboom.
