Above is the trailer for “Öctagon,” an independent skateboarding film with dystopian sci-fi themes woven throughout and created in collaboration with Carhartt WIP. Seemingly taking inspiration from The Matrix, the plot revolves around the Öctagon, a totalitarian and omniscient system which creates a unique reality within which individuals inhabit — inside the Öctagon, “geographic space doesn’t exist for real, it is not tangible but still defined by a multitude of data.” Featuring Carhartt WIP teamriders such as Bram De Cleen and Joseph Biais, the black-and-white short film explores themes like ”new technologies, human subjugation, freedom and rebellion.” Set to screen at multiple European locations, look for the film to premiere at Berlin’s Urban Spree Gallery on January 19, along with a photo installation by Maxime Verret and a DJ set by ClekClekBoom related to the video soundtrack.
