An Open Letter to IWC from John Mayer
Revered for his taste and seemingly endless knowledge on the topic of wearable timepieces, HODINKEE
Revered for his taste and seemingly endless knowledge on the topic of wearable timepieces, HODINKEE columnist and renowned musician, John Mayer, has sent an open letter to the International Watch Company (IWC) sharing his thoughts — both positive and critical. The Swiss manufacturer, as famous as it is, was one of John’s first diversions from Rolex when searching for products of a similar, if not better quality. Such recognition could be considered a worthy accolade from a man so invested in the craft of watchmaking.
The letter covers many points, from the use of their “Big Pilot” 12 o’clock indicator on Mayer’s custom acoustic guitar to witnessing pieces integral to the brand’s DNA begin “to look like a tired sperm donor.” The full letter along with relative photographs can be seen here.
