Kendrick Lamar "Hopes" to Release New Album This Year

While Kendrick Lamar‘s new song, “i,” is keeping the digital sphere on lock, there is still no release date for the upcoming good kid, m.A.A.d city follow-up. In a conversation with Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio, K. Dot shares a bit of optimism in terms of releasing the piece in 2014.

“I’m hoping to push it out before 2015. I’m gonna say that. I’m working hard in the studio.”

He further shared that it won’t be anything like you hear on radio these days.

“When I go into creating an album or any type of song, I usually cut off everything from the radio because you can easily be influenced from songs that you like, songs that you may not like,” he said. “So I said, ‘I’m gonna go in the studio and I’m going to do what I feel organically without being confined to industry standards or what people assume that I should do.’ Because, at the end of the day, man, I’m an artist and I would hate to be stagnant.”
