Kendrick Lamar Facing $1 Million Lawsuit Because of "Rigamortis"
The sampling of Eric Reed and Willie Jones III’s 2010 song “The Thorn” on Kendrick

The sampling of Eric Reed and Willie Jones III’s 2010 song “The Thorn” on Kendrick Lamar‘s Section.80 track “Rigamortis” has brought the Compton lyricist into some murky legal waters. Songwriters Reed and Jones III are suing the TDE rapper for $1 million over the use of “The Thorn” in the production of “Rigamortis,” arguing that “Rigamortis” and “The Thorn” are pretty much the same song and that K-Dot used their music and simply supplemented it with his own vocals. TMZ is reporting that Reed and Jones say the Section. 80 hit “basically made Lamar a star” and “he never gave them a dime or even credit for their music.” Along with the million-dollar demand, the songwriter pair is also looking to own the “profits and rights” to “Rigamortis.”
