When the Los Angeles Clippers take the court for the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA season, Blake Griffin will don the latest edition of Jordan Brand‘s Super.Fly: the Jordan Super.Fly 3. Created by a team of designers with Griffin in mind and game-tested to ensure optimal performance, the new design is intended to allow the Clippers star to jump even higher, with greater explosiveness. Incorporating an evolved version of Jordan’s FlightPlate technology–complete with a new tendril for smoother heel-to-toe transition, a la the upcoming Air Jordan XX9–the new design sees amplified energy return from the Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot while the outsole takes additional cues from the XX9 with multidirectional traction that’s prefect for a variety of surfaces.
For the upper, Jordan’s design team paired lightweight textile quarter panels with synthetic overlays for additional structure in a sonic boom-inspired pattern. The shoe also sports a Flight Web fit system which creates stabilizing lockdown and adds support during cuts and take-offs by wrapping around the foot and working in conjunction with the laces through the midfoot. Finally, a sock-like inner sleeve and padded Achilles notch deliver all-around comfort.
The Jordan Super.Fly 3 is set to launch October 1–just in time for the upcoming NBA season–in two distinct colorways for $140 USD.
