European bicycle manufacturer CUBE recently unveiled a first-of-its-kind electric mountain bike at the 2014 Eurobike Show in Berlin, which garnered great respect pulling in 11 awards. The unique 16.9 kg carbon fiber frame comes with a built-in Bosch drive unit — a 250w high-performance cruise engine that reaches speeds up to 26 km/h (approximately 16 mph) — which has paved the way for an entirely new electric bike weight class. Standout features include a well-protected lithium-ion battery with 400 Wh, as well as a straight pull wheel-set with 28/32 spokes that support tires designed specifically for heavy-duty usage. Offered up in a stealthy colorway dubbed “ZEROBLACK,” the CUBE Elite Hybrid fuses innovation with great design.
