After 15 years of operation, Microsoft has officially discontinued the once-popular instant messaging service MSN Messenger, also known as Windows Live Messenger. Back in the early 2000s, the online messaging platform competed heavily with AOL’s AIM service, however its gradual and significant fall from prominence has seen users transition to other platforms such as Skype, Line, WhatsApp and more. For those still using Windows Live Messenger, please note that the service will be terminated on October 31.
