Essentials: Ralph Thoma of Crafted Goods

For our latest Essentials, we look at the travel necessities of Cyclus Manufactura Founder and CEO Ralph Thoma. Known for its innovative aesthetics that encompass sustainable elements in design, Cyclus Manufactura overlooks three subsidiary labels — Pangolin, CYCLUS and Crafted Goods — with primary focus on luggage and accessories. Nicknamed the “inner tube company,” the Bogota, Colombia-based label give the inner tubes of car tires new lives by turning them into forward-thinking silhouettes. Utilizing attributes found in the non-biodegradable materials — which are both water- and UV-resistant while also a perfect texture for remolding — Thoma and his team of creatives present stunning collections each season that don’t forgo style in their ecological pursuits. An example of his work is the “Kamino” backpack (seen above) alongside other accessories — custom shark helmet and Nicky Hayden race gloves. As seen in his Essentials, Cuban cigars and vintage port are delicacies Thoma relishes, all while relaxing to a daily dose of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Exodus LP.
