It looks like this is going to be the summer of Iggy Azalea. The Australian artist is currently dominating the charts with Charli XCX-assisted “Fancy” and her guest spot on Ariana Grande’s “Problem.” Both songs have reached the No.1 and 2 spots respectively on Billboard Hot 100 charts. As COS points out, the last music act that simultaneously occupied the top two chart positions with their first two chart entries was none other than the Beatles in 1964 with “I Want To Hold Your Hand” and “She Loves You.” This success also marks Iggy as the fourth solo female rapper ever to top the Hot 100. Lauryn Hill (1998′s “Doo Wop (That Thing)”), Lil Kim (2001′s “Lady Marmalade”), and Shawnna (2003′s “Stand Up”) did it before her. Additionally, Azeala joins just Mariah Carey and Ashanti as the only other woman to hold the top two chart positions. It is also worth pointing out that her “Fancy”-collaborator Charli XCX is also enjoying her first No. 1 record ever.
