Sensei Setsa - Return To The Village 1998

Sensei Setsa is a Tennessee rapper who apparently exists in a purple-toned, smoke-clouded universe where adoration for Japanese culture, video games, and Southern hip-hop is as important as religion and social structure is to our normal world. At least, that’s really the best way to put into words how he comes across as an artist on his new project “Return To The Village 1998.” Sensei doesn’t quite adhere to any set-in-stone standards or specific hip-hop subclass, and that’s quite alright. His avant-rap sound works well for him.
If the A$AP Mob & Hypnotize Minds camp came together and recruited a samurai soldier to rap alongside them, then proceeded to feed that emcee a diet comprised exclusively of weed, opiates, psychedelic mushrooms and Japanese cinema, he’d probably come out of the studio with a project like “Return To The Village 1998.” You can stream the full project below, and follow Sensei on Twitter here.
