Prime Video‘s mew limited series comes from Justin Kurzel. Starring Jacob Elordi as the titular Australian war hero in The Narrow Road to the Deep North, the series is an adaptation of Richard Flanagan’s eponymous, Man Booker Prize-winning novel.
Elordi plays the lead role of Dorrigo Evans, who is a medical officer who becomes a Japanese prisoner of war. He is also haunted by his passionate, and impossible love affair with Odessa Young’s Amy Mulvaney, who is his uncle’s wife. The script is written by Shaun Grant and portrays Elordi’s character as a war hero who becomes a revered surgeon once he returns home. The series spans a decade and is filmed in New South Wales, Australia.
The film first premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and also features Ciarán Hinds, Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Show Kasamatsu, Thomas Weatherall and Simon Baker starring alongside Elordi. The series is one of 30 Australian Original series that have been commissioned by Prime Video since 2019. The first five episodes will first premiere in Australia, New Zealand and Canada on April 18 on Prime Video.
