As the genre further integrates into pop culture, a new generation of electronic musicians strive to create new sensory experiences for live listeners. Amongst them is Gesaffelstein, the talented French techno artist, who took to the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles to play selections from his debut Aleph. Far from the head-nodding and two-steps found at, say, a local DJ set, Gesaffelstein pulled out all the stops – live cueing and meshing his thrashing, thumping sonic landscapes for the crowd. All of this was backed by a special projection display at the background that tied in perfectly with the artist’s musical themes. Creating an intense visual and auditory experience for the audience, Gesaffelstein’s show in Los Angeles set a standard for shows ahead of his ongoing international tour.
