This is something you probably thought you’d never hear. SSR boss and Chicago street-king Fredo Santana isn’t exactly known for paying homage to golden age icons, but with his upcoming project Walking Legend on the way and the monumental twentieth anniversary of Illmatic this month, here’s Fredo’s freestyle take on Nas & The Bravehearts’ hit “Oochie Wally.” For those used to the street rapper’s commanding, menacing presence, the only thing that should come as a surprise is that he actually does rather well on Ez Elpee’s early-aughts production. Some may consider this rework hip-hop heresy, but it’s nice to see Fredo showing different sides of his creative palette.
