Nothing less than a cinematic experience is what Lady Gaga offers in the the video for her latest single “G.U.Y. (Girl Under You).” After premiering a two-minute clip on “Dateline,” Gaga has unveiled the seven-minute ARTPOP film. Helmed by Gaga herself, the visuals were shot over six days at California’s famed Hearst Castle, which has not allowed anyone to film there since the 1960 movie Spartacus. Synchronized swimmers, and cameos from Bravo’s Andy Cohen (Zeus) and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and other avang-garde fashion elements round up the film. In a conversation with Access Hollywood, Gaga said:
“The intention of the video was to create something that was a true sort of road map of my journey, being an artist, a pop singer, a creative person. It’s interesting because in this video… the fashion and the psychotic sort of whimsy is all happening around me and it’s me almost like Alice in Wonderland going through my own rabbit hole in my brain and re-experiencing the past year of my life.”
