Sad news hit us today as British-born singer and songwriter Joe Cocker has passed away at the age of 70 after battling lung cancer. Known for his cover of The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends,” Cocker first rose to fame in the 1960s. He went on to perform that song at Woodstock in 1969. In 1975, his single “You Are So Beautiful” became a a global hit, and in 1983, his duet with Jennifer Warnes, “Up Where We Belong”, earned him a GRAMMY for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. His agent Barrie Marshall told the BBC, that the singer was “simply unique. It will be impossible to fill the space he leaves in our hearts.” Rest in Peace.
