Diesel introduces a new collection for Spring/Summer 2015 rooted in the notion of independence and going against the grain. Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti created three underlying themes encompassing Preppy Rock, Tattoo and Black Carpet. But despite three differing themes, the commonality lies in Diesel’s ongoing lifeline — leather and denim. Both elements are kept in a progressive state. Breaking down the respective themes however, Preppy Rock features clean-cut varsity jackets with a distinct distressed edge while the Tattoo capsule puts its own spin on the art form with graphical appropriations on leather for an appropriate homage. For Diesel’s signature denim line, the brand features key colors of black, gray and indigo, all of which are meant to work in unison with the apparel for a clean and cohesive outfit. A new wash has also been introduced for the upcoming season under the moniker Frontier as a worn pair of vintage jeans are subsequently patched with different colors of indigo denim on the legs.
