Earlier this week Chi-town’s Alex Wiley dropped this “Top of The World” track that was originally intended for a previous mixtape Generous Dubsac which he eventually scrapped. Although this new joint is presented in somewhat of a different mold from his usual light-hearted fun rhymes, Alex continues to demonstrate his versatility and steady growth with each new release as he delivers his swift flow on this more personal number. As per usual the production is on point as he opts for a mesmerizing instrumental on a solid track that’ll leave many people curious about the other unreleased music from this trashed project. Speaking to Huffington Post about the mixtape he says:
“[The project] was loosely based on my high school experience, but it was about a kid who’s having a hard time in school, flunking out of high school basically. A lot of shit’s going on in his life, he’s really depressed and he’s suicidal. He plans to kill himself every weekend after school, but every Friday he has a ritual that he buys weed and his dealer always gives him more than he pays for.”
