On YouTube alone, the video garnered over 24 million views, leading to the expansion of the project by director Ilya Naishuller. In similar fashion, Ilya presents one of the world’s first action POV feature films dubbed “Hardcore.”
Described as a modern, action sci-fi, the film is shot from the perspective of a newly resurrected cyborg named Henry whose on a quest to save his wife, played by Haley Bennett, from the clutches of tyrant, Akan. Filmed predominantly with custom-mounted GoPro cameras, the visual is made possible by an army of professional Russian stuntmen in Moscow, Russia. “Hardcore” is a culmination of intuitive visual direction, stunt coordination, and a carefully considered continuation of a successful concept.
Ilya and his team are now searching for funding via web-platform Indiegogo to finalize its production. With a goal of $250,000, “Hardcore” is currently 30% away from hitting their target.
