Described by many as haunting and trapped in time, the cities of Chernobyl and Pripyat underwent catastrophic ruin by Nuclear blasting back in 1986. Left scared and practically untouched, the abandoned location is now somewhat of an enigma. For filmmaker Danny Cooke, this provided captivating scenes for his 60 Minutes film report which had Cooke documenting the whole city through a week’s worth of exploration. Although published a month ago, we now get a glimpse of his work through an edited version produced by Cooke that compiles excerpts from the original, titled “Postcards from Pripyat.” Using a mix of footage taken by drone and traditional cinematography, the short highlights poignant scenes of abandoned amusement parks, buildings and schools set to an equally haunting soundtrack.
