When asked about his upcoming projects, Def Jam’s rising star and Long Beach native, Vince Staples, told HYPETRAK in last week’s interview session that he has been working on an EP called Hell Can Wait. On Tuesday, Vince released the highly-anticipated Def Jam debut EP, and it is now available on iTunes and Spotify.
Due to much of his more recent buzz generated from his featured verses on tracks for various artists such as Common, Dilated Peoples and Jhené Aiko, it may come to a surprise that aside from a couple of carefully selected features, Vince stands alone in his latest project. However, in an interview with HNHH, Vince made it clear that he is “not for the features for the sake of features.” In a smooth change-up from his previously released tracks (“Blue Suede” and “Hands Up”) off Hell Can Wait, Vince teams up with G.O.O.D. Music’s Teyana Taylor for a collaboration that paints the struggle and consequences that arise from a relationship under the limelight.
