Panasonic Introduces 3D-Printed Camera Covers Inspired by Design Epochs
Taking camera customisation to a whole new level, Panasonic has collaborated with German design
Taking camera customisation to a whole new level, Panasonic has collaborated with German design firm WertelOberfell for a series of camera cases that utilise the revolutionary technology of 3D printing for thin yet strong structures. Recently announced at Photokina in Germany and designed for the Panasonic Lumix GM1 camera, the designs take inspiration from three different “design epochs” — the Art Nouveau takes the organic aesthetic of the Art Nouveau period and reimagines it as a bronze vine-like design; the Digital Age features a silver honeycomb pattern akin to those found on speakers, and the Modern features a Modernism-inspired weave patterned with a subtle bump for better grip. Unfortunately these are intended only as concept designs, but here’s to hoping Panasonic will start selling them soon.
