An all-too-common ridge formed from the bunching of a rug is ordinarily looked at as an eyesore or hazard and immediately stretched back to its intended flat surface. Similar to his “Stumble Upon” Rug piece however, Italian designer Alessandro Isola sees this imperfection and nuisance as inspiration, thus turning a familiar problem into a unique seating structure dubbed the “Stumble Upon” Sofa. Mimicking this common occurrence on a much larger scale offers plenty of creative arrangements, thanks in part to the addition of padding that flows over its carbon fiber supportive core. This foundation now presents an opening for storage units on one end, while the change in height and overall curvature provides different seating throughout.
