Alice Glass Leaves Crystal Castles

Alice Glass has decided to part ways from bandmate and producer Ethan Kath. In a post to Facebook, Glass informed fans that her decision to leave Crystal Castles was due to personal and professional reasons. While she acknowledged that this was the end of the group, she announced her hope that fans would embrace her “as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.” The duo has been active since 2004 and was infamous for chaotic and enthralling live shows. While Alice’s departure is a loss, the band’s manager has indicated that this may not mean the end of the band. The duo’s last full-length was III, which came out in 2012. Here’s Glass’s message in entirety:

I am leaving Crystal Castles.

My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others.
For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC.
Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.
