While Nike Basketball‘s “NOLA Gumbo League” release pays homage to the hardwood, Nike Sportswear‘s “Crescent City” collection takes cues from the unique and distinct city of New Orleans for an off-court trio of footwear in honor of this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend. Inspired by the Big Easy’s festive atmosphere, the collection includes this year’s version of the classic Air Up, the Air Force 1 CMFT, and the brand new Flystepper 2K3. While the Air Up ‘14 represents the city’s beloved boiled crawfish with a crustacean-red upper complete with water droplets and a steamy graphic, the AF1 CMFT is marked by a gumbo-like collage of NSW’s most memorable uppers – everything from Foamposite and cork materials to elephant, gator, pony hair and safari motifs appear. Finally, the new Flystepper 2K3 – a casual high-top featuring the perforated quarter panels of the Zoom Flight 2K3 – takes cues from the area’s Alligator Mississippiensis with faux-alligator strap enclosures and a raised synthetic covering the toe. The entire “Crescent City” collection drops on February 13 online and at select NSW stockists.
