Making his breakthrough in 2010 as a guest vocalist on Gorillaz‘ s “Doncamatic” single in which him and Damon Albarn co-wrote, Daley has since gone on tour with Emeli Sande, Maverick Sabre, Miguel and Jessie J, working with some of soul, r&b and hip-hop’s most promising artists. The Polydor signee released his debut single “Smoking Gun” as a follow up to his Gorillaz collaboration, a slow jam pop hit that’s led by Daley’s poignant vocals over a bed of soft keys and a steady bass drum kick. With 15,000 copies sold to his latest EP Those Who Wait, Daley is currently prepping for his full-length debut Days & Nights, set to feature collaborations with Bernard Butler, Damon Albarn, Questlove and Pharrell Williams. We caught up with Daley in New York during his ‘Look Up’ tour to see what he keeps in his Music Essentials. Keeping to the bare minimum, Daley shares with us the sunglasses synonymous to his bold style, while a comb, clipper and hairspray are essentials in keeping his fizzy hair looking top notch at all time. We also see an Access All Areas pass to the ‘Look Up’ tour, while The Path To Love by Deepak Chopra and headphones for music listening are tools for relaxation during the vigorous stints on the road.
