After a phenomenal 2013, Miguel is crafting on a new album to follow up to his classic Kaleidoscope Dream. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the crooner shared that he was in the studio with British chanteuse Jessie Ware as they are collaborating on a song. While there are no other details available at the moment, Miguel has been immensely successful with his previous collaborations: “Power Trip,” featuring J. Cole, is nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and “How Many Drinks?,”with Kendrick Lamar, is up for Best R&B Performance at the 2014 GRAMMY Awards.
Miguel’s next album is currently slated for release this fall via ByStorm/RCA, and he will spend the next month and a half writing and recording it. Besides Ms. Ware, he hopes to also work with Yasiin Bey, Jack White and Kanye West, as well as friends like J. Cole and Kendrick. Although he’s still in the early stages of development, the music has come quickly so far.
“It was a little daunting because I wasn’t sure how rusty I’d be. I’d been collecting ideas and writing down concepts and phrases and all those things you hoard as you’re moving along, and that very first day in the first hour, we had something special. I think my spirit was ready to go and ride the wave, so to speak. I’ve been so focused on performing and making sure that what we do live is connecting. So now I’m just happy to be in a place where I can have solitude and just create freely.”
