OTHERS by HYPEBEAST: Willie Greene of We The Urban

At the ripe young age of 18 years old, Willie Greene of WeTheUrban.com is currently one the youngest editor-in-chiefs in history and behind the first ever Tumblr-to-print magazine with the release of his first distributed issue. Humble and self-described as out-of-place, Greene started out back in 2009 at the age of 15 with a lot of free time and a Tumblr blog. Before long, his readership grew and in 2011, he officially turned the blog into a publication, channeling his passion for creating and magazines. In a span of two years, Greene released four online issues featuring names such as Zombie Boy, Kreayshawn and Mac Miller – no small undertaking given he was still in school at the time, writing every article himself and coordinating with a graphic designer to handle the visuals. His current crew now consists of a team of contributors as well as a designated fashion editor and he’s just getting started. With plenty of avenues still to be explored, he hopes to one day start a fashion line and record label. Having cleared his fair share of financial and personal hurdles with family and friends not entirely understanding his life decisions, his passion and work ethic have carried him great distances and will undoubtedly carry him farther.
