While Texas designer Berto Herrera might have spent the earlier part of his adulthood in the United States Air Force as an electrical engineer, his ability to work with precision benefited him when he enrolled into Parsons School of Design as a graphic designer. With the change in career, Herrera moved to LA where he worked as part of the BOXeight collective, helping to shape the downtown art scene. While working closely with Famous Stars & Straps, Herrera honed his graphics and illustration skills, channeling his talents onto other collaborations with the likes of éS Skateboarding, Diamond Supply Co., Staple, Nike and Victoria’s Secret. With stints as a head designer at Primitive, and a tenure at adidas, Herrera’s hardworking ethics has solidified a loyal clientele — a list of prolific brands that’s reflected in his Essentials.
