Oklahoma City indie rockers The Flaming Lips drop off a new set of visuals today, but it’s not for one of their own songs. The bands take on “Gates of Steel,” Devo‘s 1980 synth-pop hit off of Freedom of Choice, is decidedly a more spacey reworking of the tune. The video, which was recorded during the same session as the “Turning Violent” video shoot, features front man Wayne Coyne in full psychedelic garb and a number of gold-flaked fans enjoying the performance. While the song isn’t on the band’s latest album, The Terror, it is being used instead to promote their upcoming tour with Tame Impala. Tour dates can be found below, so you can see if they’re coming to a town near you, right after you finish watching the video above. The Terror is available now via iTunes.
