Based on the story of WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, The Fifth Estate is Hollywood’s interpretation of the people behind the tell-all website. Taking inspiration from the recent biography WIKILEAKS: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy and labelled a “massive propaganda attack” by Assange himself, the film moves away from the documentary technique of the cinematic predecessor We Steal Secrets and opts for a narrative of the WikiLeaks’ story itself. Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange, The Fifth Estate is directed by Bill Condon and is set to release on October 18.
