John Mayer has to be a happy guy right now. Despite his on-and-off, tabloid-crazy relationship with Katy Perry being at a pause for the moment, the 35-year-old, seven-time Grammy winner has fully recovered from his career-halting vocal chord surgery and is finally in the midst of a long-awaited tour to support his 2012 album, Born & Raised. Mayer is playing catch-up on the touring, but to the benefit of his fans, he’s also working double-time and will be putting out another new album, Paradise Valley, on August 20. We heard the first taste of it last month with “Paper Doll” and now we’ve received another. This one, “Wildfire,” comes at the perfect time, too. With its lighthearted feel, catchy guitar and hand-clapping melodies, and lyrics like, “‘Cause a little bit of summer’s what the whole year’s all about,” it has warm weather get-togethers and square dance gather-rounds written all over it. Okay, maybe you won’t do the latter, but just picture it. Get the track as an instant download by pre-ordering Paradise Valley on iTunes.
