After self-proclaiming themselves as “the Bob Seger of underground rap” on Twitter, Atmosphere cements the title by naming a song after the ’70s rock artist. Like Seger, the Twin Cities duo comprised of rapper Slug and producer Ant have definitely paid their fair share of dues through the years by releasing plenty of quality material and performing countless gigs. Although neither Bob Seger nor Atmosphere may be acquainted with the masses, those who have taken the time to listen to their music truly know them. Maybe a little too well in fact, as Slug jokes on the song “It Goes” by saying “I bet my fans know me better than my friends do/ Because my friends don’t pay that much attention/ The fans memorize every single sentence/ Which makes them far too smart to ever start a friendship.”
