Hailed as one of the greatest street photographers of all time, Vivian Maier‘s photographs (and story) had remained a mystery for decades after she first picked up a camera. While working as a nanny in Chicago, Maier shot over 100,000 photographs — many of which were never developed or seen, even by Maier herself — until they were purchased and collected as historical artefacts in 2007. With much of Maier’s story still a mystery, part 1 of BBC‘s latest documentary explores Maier’s past, her photography, and the incredibly well-kept secret of her immensely hidden talent.
