Based on the true story of Solomon Northup, 12 Years a Slave is a historical drama set in 1853 that follows the kidnapping and illegal trade of Northup into slavery. Inspired by the autobiographical bestseller of the same name, the film features Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup and is directed by Steve McQueen. With supporting acts from Michael Fassbender, Paul Giamatti and Brad Pitt, 12 Years a Slave is set to release October 18.
